Cacti manually create rrd

Using Cacti Click Devices on Cacti's menu. Click Add to add a new device. Type a description, hostname, management IP, and SNMP community. Make sure to select "Generic SNMP-enabled Host" under Click Create Graphs for this Host at the top of the page. You should see one or more interfaces listed. Create a Data Source Click Data Sources under Management. Click Add in the top right The Data Template Section should be None and None, we're not using templates for this example. Click Create. Name: random2ds Data Source Path: blank (Cacti will fill this in) Data Input Source: Random 2 Input (this is the data input method you created in step 1).  · Creating file from OS command line gets the graphing working but I don't want to create rrd manually each time. I believe it could be that the create statement in cacti has \ on end which needs to be left off the create from command .

Cacti CAN create rrd files if I use a built in template (Interface statistics for example) IF I manually create the RRD file, the poller is then not running the query to update the file. As far as I can tell, everything is enabled as it should be, and I cant see any reason why it isn't running. I have rebuilt the poller cache a few times. This is a cacti instance that has been running for over a year. The OS and permissions have been correct for months and have not been touched. The data source and graph templates are the same as the last time I added a new graph for this device. The only change is the recent commit. The cron job for the poller is run as cactiuser: */1. i do not have any rrd files whatsoever for this host in my rra directory. does anyone have any ideas on how i could further diagnose this problem? In my case it was related to thepermissions on the directory where the apache user could not create the files. i would have thought so too but it only seems to be occuring on.

For a list of accepted formats, see the -l option in the rrdcached manual. rrdtool create --daemon unix:/var/run/www.doorway.ru /var/lib/rrd/www.doorway.ru I [--template|-t template-file] Specifies a template RRD file to take step, DS and RRA definitions from.
